Gede Ruins

Gede Ruins

This is the most important Swahili archeological site and its located in the Arabuko Sokoke forest, not far from Watamu. In the frame of a rich and lush vegetation of giant Baobab trees arise the ruins of an old arabic city: Gede.

It was founded during the XII Century and it has been a flourish city untill the XVII Century, when it was abandoned and none knows the reasons. The excavation unearthed 3 Mosques, the Sultan palace and the royal tombs. Today the village of Gede is inhabited by a colony of friendly monkeys.

Marafa

Marafa

Marafa Canyon, known also as Hell’s Kitchen, is an evocative place where you can admire the natural spectacle of sandstone rock shaped by rainfall over millennia.

The canyon is full of spires, ravines, pinnacles and structures up to 30 metres high, and the magic is at the sunset, when the colours of the canyon change.

Safari

Safari

Dreaming of a Safari? Kenya’s natural reserves offer untamed adventures, merging exploration with environmental stewardship.

We offer the possibility to combine a stay in our Lion Beach Resort with standard or tailored safari program in the most famous Natural Parks of the world. The Tsavo National Park, divided in Tsavo East and Tsavo Ovest, is the nearest natural reserve to our resort.

With its red earth dry plains, thorny bushes and marshy ponds near the river it is the ideal place to spot the big felines other than elephants, hippos, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, crocodiles, hyenas and a vast variety of birds. The Amboseli National Park is located at the foot of Kilimanjaro. Its sparsely vegetated environment helps the vision of the big 5 and it is known for its large elephant families – without doubt the best place to see these wonderful giant creatures. The Masai Mara National Reserve is famous for the migration of herbivores (zebras, antelopes and wildebeests) two times a year from/to the Serengeti Nation Park of Tanzania. It is the wildest reserve because there are no signed paths and it is also one of the few places in the World in which the White Rhino can be spotted.
